Salford Schools Year 5 and 6 Tag Festival
On Friday 20th November Salford Red Devils Foundation ran, in partnership with Salford Schools Sports Partnership, a year 5 and 6 Tag Festival here at the AJ Bell Stadium, sponsored by A-Plant.
The Foundation opened the doors to over 200 children from 19 different Salford Primary Schools to showcase their skills.
The day managed to get started with out any problems and the majority of the group games went under way. However, as always at this time of the year, it wasn't long until English weather changed and the heavens opened. Despite this the children continued to play and shown some very good skills. Unfortunately the day was cut short due to the relentless weather, but needless to say all the children enjoyed their day and took away a goody bag each which included personal certificates.
Asif Latief Director of A-Plant and Foundation trustee said "This is the third year we have continued to support the Salford Red Devils Foundation program and it is great to see so many boys and girls playing Rugby League, despite the weather".
With the weather putting a stop to the games, 5 schools will continue to play in a round robin after Christmas to determine who will be the 2 schools to represent the Salford area in the Greater Manchester Winter games later in the school year.
A special thanks need to be given to each school who entered the festival on the day.
