Trafford Rugby League

Rugby League in Trafford is going from strength to strength.  We have been working in partnership with both the local community and schools to retain our existing players and recruiting new ones.

At Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College we conducted player visits to provide the girls and boys with an insight to the possibilities and opportunities in Rugby League.

We also coached KS3 Curriculum lessons; at Stretford High School we have targeted Year 7 and 8 boys and girls by running school taster sessions during curriculum time. At Wellacre Academy we ran the Trafford and Manchester Cup.

The Trafford and Manchester Cup gave us the opportunity for boys in Trafford to play Rugby League competitively.

We invited local Trafford and Manchester secondary schools to take part in two festivals, one for Year 7 and one for Year 8. We hope our hard work pays off and we see an increase in numbers at our amateur clubs, North Trafford Titans and South Trafford Raiders (U14’s).

‘Through the coaching provided by Salford Reds it has created an enthusiasm for students to get involved in Rugby League.  It has enabled pupils to become engaged in rugby league and develop their skills across the sport.  Some of the pupils have also become extremely interested and wish to develop their skills further by competing for the South Trafford Raiders.’
