Red Devils join the fight against Diabetes

Red Devils out to tackle Diabetes

You may have spotted a few big foam fingers at our last home game against Featherstone Rovers! This was part of the ‘Give diabetes the finger’ campaign being run by our friends at the Salford Health Improvement team.

The team, which is run by Salford City Council had a stand in the fans bar before the game against the Rovers and it was good to see so many of you going to them to find out more information and get yourselves booked onto free diabetes checks.

The Health Improvement Team have been working hard in the City of Salford to educate residents understand whether they are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes and what they can do to avoid developing the diseases.

About 90 per cent of adults with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes, which can be prevented or delayed by making simple lifestyle changes, like eating healthily and doing regular exercise.

Here at the Salford Red Devils Foundation, we are committed to improving health standards across the local area, and run a number of health programmes designed to get people fitter and improve quality of life!
