Foundation open new Super League season in style

The Salford Red Devils Foundation welcomed in the new Betfred Super League season with a bang, by hosting a bumper community event, as the Red Devils opened the season against Wigan Warriors.

On the morning of the first day of the season, the Foundation bought over 500 kids together to play in community rugby league festivals at four locations across the city of Salford.

Rugby clubs and schools from across the North-West came together across 5 age groups as the Red Devils Foundation continued with their commitment to develop the game at a grass-roots level.

Salford Red Devils Foundation Director Mark Brocklehurst was pleased to see the festivals get such a fantastic response, he said;

“It was great to see so many kids getting involved and enjoying their rugby in the festivals, and then even better to see so many of them stay to enjoy the Super League game afterwards. Hopefully this kids will have been inspired and will keep coming back for more.”

The Salford Red Devils Foundation work tirelessly to promote the game of Rugby League in the Salford, Bury, Trafford and Manchester areas, and player development Danny Barton feels that events such as these are crucial for maintaining the success of the sport in the area, he said;

“The more kids we get involved from a young age, the more confidence we can have that the sport will continue to grow and develop. Even at under 7’s, events such as this are often the first step to identifying talent, and securing the participation of those who will be crucial to the sport in years to come.”
