Foundation host Touch Rugby extravaganza
Foundation host touch rugby extravaganza
The Salford Red Devils Foundation hosted a Touch Rugby League double header at the AJ Bell Stadium, in partnership with A-Plant.
The festival, played across two days saw school teams from 20 Schools across Salford, Bury, Trafford and Manchester come together to play in a round robin tournament, which were concluded by finals, played on the community pitches at the AJ Bell Stadium.
Despite challenging weather conditions on both days, the rugby on display was of a high standard, eclipsed only by the infectious enthusiasm of the young players and their teachers.
Foundation Community Development Manager Lewis Lockett helped organise the events, and was delighted with the outcome, he said;
“We’ve had two fantastic days of Rugby League here, despite the wind and the rain, and it was great to see so many primary aged kids, boys and girls, enjoying their rugby league. Hopefully they will go away from here and get involved with their local community clubs.”
The festivals were part of the clubs wider commitment to develop the sport in the surrounding area, with the Foundation providing regular coaching in many of the schools involved.
