Fine nines with the Salford Red Devils Foundation 

The Salford Red Devils Foundation hosted the finals of the Salford Champions League Schools Nines competition at the AJ Bell lat week.

 

The finals saw the best winners from regional competitions in Salford, Manchester, Trafford and Bury come together to decide the best of the best.

 

Proceedings got underway on Monday, with the year 7’s opening up the finals series, with All Hallows School from Salford taking the title, beating Manchester based Wright Robinson in a thrilling final. 

 

On the final day of the series, the Foundation welcomed the year 9 schools to the AJ Bell, Ambrose college were crowned the winners, overcoming Walkden in a tightly contesting final, watched by Great Britain and Salford legend Adrian Morley.

 

 

Player Development Manager Danny Barton has overseen the Nines programme and is pleased with the standard of Rugby on display, and the development shown over the series, he said; 

 

“It’s brilliant to see the schools getting involved in this and we’ve seen a really high level of competition  throughout the regional games and the finals as well. Nines is a really fast version of the sport and its a great way to learn the game.”
