'BIG HITS' - SRD spruce up Roosters changing rooms

 

The Roosters have an impressive record within the local rugby league community for producing great talent, boasting such old boys in Adrian Morley, ex Great Britain Captain, Ian Watson, ex Welsh International and current Salford Red Devils Head Coach and Nathan McAvoy ex cross code England International to name but a few! 

 

 

The SRDF ‘BIG HITS’ programme is thriving with youngsters from Salford and Trafford getting the chance to engage and develop new skills in a working environment. As part of this scheme the volunteer programme looks to engage within the local community and with businesses alike. Manchester Smart Motorways have kindly offered work experience placements to SRDF ‘BIG HITS’ participants as part of their ongoing partnership. ( for more information click HERE to contact Neil Blackburn) Some of the Red Devils BTEC group were on hand to help at The Roosters and our professional apprentices dropped by to add their support and present a certificate to the club for becoming accredited as an England Development Club.

 

 

 

The Roosters have been engaging with SRDF on the Embed the Pathway programme which is an RFL initiative that is looking to revolutionise the way talented rugby players are nurtured through to professionalism and hopefully international recognition. The Rooster are the first club under SRDF jurisdiction to be recognised as an England Development Club. This is fantastic news for the club, coaches and players as it ensures that the correct philosophy of England Rugby League is being delivered here.

 

 

In reward for this great achievement SRDF thought that it would be fantastic to give their changing rooms a refresh ready for the next season so the potential future England stars can get changed in newly painted facilities. In partnership with Manchester Smart Motorways and their staff who have an allocation of volunteer hours the transformation was completed over two days. Club Chairperson Alfrieda Kindon was very pleased with the transformation and expressed her thanks to SRDF and Manchester Smart Motorways.

 

 

Education Manager Neil Blackburn stated “ its great to be able to give something back to the local community. Community Clubs are all run by volunteers and as the professional clubs we appreciate all their hard work. They are nurturing the next Salford Red Devils Young Stars and we just want to engage with them all and provide any assistance they require, whether that is player recruitment or club refurbishments, we are always happy to help out.” 

 

 

The BIG HITS programme is open to any Salford and Trafford resident aged between 14 and 24 with courses covering Finance, Gambling awareness, Employability, COSHH, First Aid and CSCS. Enrolment is ongoing and new participants are welcome now. Please call 0161 786 1591 for further details.
