Armed Forces to face off at Salford City Roosters

Ahead of Saturdays double header at the AJ Bell Stadium, which will see the Army take on the Navy before the Red Devils Super League Qualifier match against London Broncos, Salford City Roosters will host the Armed Forces Academy Challenge.

The Armed Forces games have proved popular with Salford supporters in recent years, with the event now being a regular fixture in the Red Devils calendar, and the academy match promises to be an exciting encounter as the Army and Navy development squads face off in the heart of the city of Salford.

These games have developed a reputation for being fast paced, high scoring affairs played at an extremely high standard, so much so that Weapons Technician Jordan Andrade was given a full time contract at the Salford Red Devils after putting in an eye catching performance in last years fixture.

These fixtures are a fantastic opportunity for Rugby League supporters to sample a unique rivalry between two groups of players, that are in the elite of their own fields, and Foundation Rugby League Development Manager Danny Barton, is excited to see the game played a fantastic community venue;

“It’s brilliant that the Army and Navy are playing a fantastic local club such as Salford City Roosters, as well as the AJ Bell Stadium. Having high profile games such as this played at amateur clubs is fantastic exposure for the community game and will hopefully inspire people to get involved in the game of Rugby League.”

The academy game kicks off at 1100 at Moat Hall, Hallsworth Road, Eccles, Salford, m30 7ls, followed by the first team game at the AJ Bell Stadium which kicks off at 1245.
