A-Plant Festival Success Continues!
The Salford Red Devils Foundation welcomed the A-Plant Festival back to the AJ Bell Stadium on Thursday 23rd October.
The festival was sponsored by A-Plant and proved extremely successful across Trafford, Manchester and Salford.
There were an amazing 20 primary schools involved, all participating in fun games of tag rugby.
The winners were Christ Church Academy and all children were from the year 5/6 age group.
Competition was tense and the final came down to Christ Church and St. Mary’s R.C High. The game ended up going into overtime and finished with a thrilling deciding try from Christ Church.
The Salford Red Devils Academy boys ran the tournament with skills they have learnt from their intensive Sports Leaders Award as part of their BTEC course. This course was delivered by our specialist Education Project Manager Neil Blackburn.
Speaking about the festival, Neil said. “The festival was a sensational event and it was great to see the newly qualified Sports Leaders excelling in their organization of the festival.”
A lot of the schools involved in the festival are enrolled in our Tackle Health programme which runs across Salford and promotes healthy living in both children and families.
Development Officer Danny Barton spoke highly of the A-Plant festival. “The festival was a great way to celebrate and showcase the skills the children have practiced in the coaching sessions leading up to the festival. I hope they enjoyed the festival and this will make them want to pursue their involvement in rugby league in the future.”
